Wheel Thrown Porcelain
Sgraffito in Terra Sigillata
Naked Raku
Welcome! This site is devoted to my work in porcelain ceramics. Making pottery is an ongoing, evolving process. My style evolves continously, as I explore new forms and surface designs.
I work primarly in two styles:

1. Wheel thrown or handbuilt vessel forms are assembled in porcelain clay. These pieces are decorated in a "sgraffito in terra sigillata" technique and high fired to maturity. This style features bright colors and durable, functional pieces.

 2. The Naked Raku style is a variation on traditional raku. Wheel thrown stoneware forms are coated with a special slip and glaze, rapidly heated to about 1400 degrees, and then "smoked". After cooling, the slip/glaze coating is removed to strip the piece back to it's "naked" state, revealing random patterns of smoke infused cracking.

Enjoy your visit to this site, but beware; the Gallery pages have lots of photos, and may take some time to download.  Thanks for visiting!
