New Sgraffito Work
I've often thought that I should blog about the creative process. It seems my style evolves so steadily, that I should document where I'm going, and what's drawing me down that path. Alas, between holding down a full time job (working on a computer all day long!), and then making pots in my spare time, spending even more time, sitting at computer at home to maintain a blog, just falls to the bottom of the priority list.

I like the metaphor of the Greek mythological Muses, inspiring the artist to create. Sometimes my muses are silent, sometimes they talk to me, sometimes they sing, and sometimes they screech at me! Fall 2008 and Winter 2009, they were telling me the "egg" is the perfect form, and can be used in an infinite variety of ways to form other vessels. Since then, they've quieted somewhat, but I continue to work on refining the concepts that came before. The work here are some of my latest explorations.

In addition to larger, dramatic pieces, I also make a variety of simple, common vessels: mugs, gobles, teabowls, earring bowls, ring dishes, lidded boxes, etc. These simpler vessels are a great way for me to work with new glazes and learn how to fire my electric kiln. They're priced to be affordable and available at the art fairs I exhibit at, as well as the galleries that offer my work. Here's a few examples of recent work.
